Here are our sides for this upcoming Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek, with a little commentary from each of us on our teams and what we’ve done with them since last time out. We also update you guys on the Darksiders (anti-meta) team for this week, plus give the WaG pick.
Moves: Cedric OUT / Daniels In
Nick says: “Another Southampton defence fail and a much promised attacking threat that ultimately failed to materialise means that Cedric has been shown the door as Southampton’s fixtures enter a tricky period. Another transfer sits in the bank but I have resisted temptation and kept Otamendi on the bench for this week. Jones had been an option but his injury changes things completely. No Manchester United coverage does feel scary and there may well be some hiding behind the sofa with the highly owned Lukaku in particular looking dangerous. Speroni also gets a run out in goal so I don’t feel even more annoyed when United inevitably score! ”
Moves: Bellerin, Jesus OUT / Tarkowski, Lukaku IN (-4)
Tom says: “I’m feeling pessimistic if I’m honest. With Mbemba not playing my bench two of Naughton and Ritchie – the latter of whom droped last night – are likely to be utilised given injuries, which is an utterly uninspiring precursor to the Gameweek. I’ve brought Kaku in for Jesus as intended, as I was sick of the saviour’s continual bench time and back big Rom to get back to form v inferior sides. Tarko comes in for Bellerin to finance it: like many others, I was caught out by the Mee stealth rise on Thursday night meaning I have had to settle for a less satisfying alternative.”
Moves: King OUT / Wilson IN
Team Manager Palpatine says: “The King has been an injury doubt so we have swapped him out for his fellow team mate WILSONNNNNN! He is rewarded with the captain’s armband to make him a true differential and darksider this Gameweek.”
The WaG pick
As we wrote pre-season, this year we’re running a WaG pick feature to test the power of luck in FPL on that most important of weekly decisions, the captaincy, using Sarah and Nicola’s total disregard for football and subsequent limited knowledge on the subject of football to see if they can beat our perhaps more informed captaincy choices.
Last week, Nicola chose Salah as her captaincy pick, and it was a fantastic call as he went to bring an eye-watering 15 point return. Nick and Tom were very meta with their captain picks of Kane, with just a 2 point return each.
Tom is leading the captaincy picks with 62 overall, the WaGs are now on 52 and Nick is trailing heavily with only 42 points.
This week Sarah has picked Kane, as it was the only player she could think of other than ‘Lukazard.’ Pretty sure I caught one of them on Pokemon Go the other day.
All the best for the Gameweek ahead!
