Gameweek 16: The Set Up

Here are our sides for this upcoming Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek, with a little commentary from each of us on our teams and what we’ve done with them since last time out. We also update you guys on the Darksiders (anti-meta) team for this week, plus give the WaG pick.

Nick

Pre-OR: 58k

Moves: Elliot, Otamendi, Jesus, Surman OUT, Speroni, Femenia, Calvert-Lewin, Hazard IN

Nick says:

“It is all change in my team after the conservative strategy appears to lose momentum. The city boys are out to fund a big move for Hazard. Those fixtures coming up just make him essential and I can’t go without him any longer. After the goalkeeper shenanigans of last week I have gone for double Palace set up to ensure I am no longer victim of any GK rotation!”

Tom

Pre-OR: 966k

Moves: None!

Tom says:

“After a painful look back at what hits have done to my OR on this week’s pod, I’ve decided to try to learn from my mistakes and just leave it. And by leave it I mean leave it – same team, same captain… but hopefully a different result. Hopefully my being in Asia will mean I get some sense of zen, and karma will reward me for being patient with my players. I did consider playing RLC over Wilson, and Naughton over Tarko, but I think the new strategy means just to leave everything and roll the transfer over. Midweek, I might do a “mini WC”, with Wilson definitely on his way for maybe Crouchie, and a shift to 3-5-2 in the offing with Walker out for Fermenia/Kabasele to afford RLC to Coutinho on the menu. Kane keeps the armband… fool me once, shame on me; fool me seven times, shame on… well, me a whole tonne more!”

Darksiders

Pre-OR: 92k

Moves: Kdb and DCL OUT, Mane and Gray IN

Team Manager Palpatine says:

“Dominic Calvert-Lewin is getting too much love in the FPL community for my liking, and so had to leave the side. Bad boy Andre Gray looks perfect darksiders material as his replacement. In midfield, picking up the overlooked Sadio Mane – as people lunge for Coutinho, Firmino and, still, Mo “New Hope” Salah – seemed a bit of a no-brainer, with KdB the only candidate to go to make that possible. He’ll make a nice meal for the sarlaac, who needs a bit of ginger to aid his digestion no doubt.”

The WaG pick

As we wrote pre-season, this year we’re running a WaG pick feature to test the power of luck in FPL on that most important of weekly decisions, the captaincy, using Sarah and Nicola’s total disregard for football and subsequent limited knowledge on the subject of football to see if they can beat our perhaps more informed captaincy choices.

Nicola’s pick of Gabriel Jesus last weekend saw her claim a princely 3 points through his last gasp assist and yellow card last weekend, which saw Nick draw level with them through his pick of Salah (5) and Tom fail to gain anything through a Kane blank (2).

This weekend, Sarah has decided that Dele Alli’s forename reminding her of the food counter in the store where she got her lunch today (which was yummy) has convinced her that he’s more than qualified for the armband ahead of Spurs’ favourable match-up with Stoke.

Tom still leads the captaincy picks with 84 overall, Nick reclaims second with 65 points whilst the WaGs go back to 63 points.

All the best for the Gameweek ahead!

WGTA.
