Gameweek 8: The Set Up

Here are our sides for this upcoming Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek, with a little commentary from each of us on our teams and what we’ve done with them since last time out. We also update you guys on the Darksiders (anti-meta) team for this week, plus give the WaG pick.

Nick says:

Wildcard activated and changes afoot! The first change was in goal: Foster left for Speroni meaning a 0.5 saving and a sole reliance on Elliot. Kevin Long was ousted in defence as were Kolasinac and Daniels despite rewarding me with points in the Gameweek before activation of the WC. In comes Cedric from Southampton, Wimmer from Stoke and Ward from Burnley offering me plenty of rotation options as part of my continued 4-man defence. Midfield is the weak spot in the team. Alli has left as triple Spurs felt excessive, and Sterling has come in for City’s run. March offers a very cheap third midfielder at 5.0 as a replacement for Ramsey. RLC has also entered my team to sit on the bench for the injured Chalobah. Up front is where the big change is, with Jesus coming in for Joselu. However, Kun’s miraculous recovery from a rib injury has put a spanner in the works. On the back of this I decided  to keep Lukaku because enables future swaps if/when required for Lukaku and Jesus to Kun and Morata.

Moves: Mkhi > Sterling

Tom says:

Going totally benchless this week, with my need for City cover (Ras in for Mkhi) greater in my mind than covering my bench. I want Choupers/Richarlison for Chalobah eventually, but it’s not the week for it and certainly not the week for a -4. Hoping my Arsenal assets come out well this weekend: they seem to be overlooked by many WCers and have inadvertently become a point of differentiation for me. Oh dear. I hate having FPL and club loyalties entwined! Hoping for a good week, even if the variance in scores will be low in that everyone will captain Kane.

Pre OR; ~340k

Moves: Chalobah > Cork

Ryan / Wijnaldum Matip Cork

Team Manager Palpatine says:

The boys haven’t quite had time to figure out what to do with the side, so we continue on with the one FT used to remove Chalobah and put in another 4.5 in Cork, who goes straight on the bench. Team picks itself this week. Might need to wildcard soon to refresh the “anti-meta” ness of this side, with Jesus Vardy Sane relatively popular these days. Shows the power of the dark side…

The WaG pick

Sarah has picked Lukaku as the WaG choice this week because she likes his name.

Tom is leading the captaincy picks with 57 overall, with Nick on 33 and the WaGs catching up with him on 26.

All the best for the Gameweek ahead!
