Here are our sides for this upcoming Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek, with a little commentary from each of us on our teams and what we’ve done with them since last time out. We also update you guys on the Darksiders (anti-meta) team for this week, plus give the WaG pick.
Sorry we missed the outcome article on Tuesday – crazy week!
Moves: Otamendi IN / Davies OUT
Nick says: “Everything is set up for this Gameweek and the big news and big risk is the sale of Ben Davies and the dismantling of his shrine! Gentle Ben has served me extremely well this season, but with thorny Rose threatening him and a tough fixture run it felt time to cash in on the 0.2 he had made me prior to an anticipated price fall this evening. If Ben punishes me it will be painfully felt. In comes Ota ‘Otter’ Mendi. The Manchester City man is joint second for shots amongst defenders and I expect a clean sheet for City against Burnley. Unfortunately, an unexpected and unpredicted price rise Thursday night means I have to pay an extra 0.1 for him.”
Moves: Jones, Jesus IN / Davies, Lacazette OUT (-4)
Tom says: “I’m removing Davies to allow my intended transfer of Richarlison back into my squad for Chalobah next week. I’m annoyed with myself for having Ritchie over him on the wildcard, though the Scotsman’s form was pretty decent at that time. I’ve brought Jones in for him, as I want a United defender in the long term and Phil at 5.3 offers incredible value and I’m sure he’ll be fit. Jesus instead of Kun allows an FT next week for my intended swap – think he’ll still play and do well. Sterling gets the armband for the first time ever – in the form of his life!”
Moves: De Bruyne, Firmino and Arnautovic IN / Sane, Jesus and Wijnaldum OUT
Team Manager Palpatine says: “A big week in many ways. Nyom goes to the bench, which feels momentously sad as I think of Allan plummeting toward the reactor core. We had 2FTs so we’ve done a mini-wildcard to move out some more popular guys, with Sane and Jesus both too highly owned right now to count as anti-meta. Instead, the expensive de Bruyne (surely the lowest desired City asset) comes in, along with forgotten man Bobby Firmino. Wijnaldum has been awful, so we fancied taking a -4 for the unfancied Marko Arnautovic for some Friday night fun; surely he’ll want to score the long overdue to introduce himself to the home fans!”
The WaG pick
As we wrote pre-season, this year we’re running a WaG pick feature to test the power of luck in FPL on that most important of weekly decisions, the captaincy, using Sarah and Nicola’s total disregard for football and subsequent limited knowledge on the subject of football to see if they can beat our perhaps more informed captaincy choices.
Last week, Sarah chose the blanking Lukaku as her captaincy pick, giving her 2 points – the same as Kane for Nick and Tom.
Tom is leading the captaincy picks with 59 overall, with Nick on 35 and the WaGs catching up with him on 28.
This week, Nicola has chosen Aguero because of our pod pic for this week!
All the best for the Gameweek ahead!
